Welcome to the Ramsgate and District Model Engineering Club web site.
History is fascinating and no period in transport history captures a wider audience more so than the steam era during the development of our transport systems. The model Rail locomotives, Traction engines and Road locomotives that we build and run depict the steam, Diesel and Electric locomotives and vehicles of this period in our heritage.
Our elevated permanent way is able to run 3½" and 5" gauge rail locomotives alongside asphalted foot paths for road locomotives all situated in the historic Ellington Park in Ramsgate, being located on the Ellington Road side of the Park (Click to find us). Our proposed running schedule (weather and staff permitting) means you can find us at historic Ellington Park on Sunday's as detailed in our ‘Events Calendar’ . Please check for the specific dates we are running and other events we are attending where we will be using our 100' long 5" gauge portable track. (This is available for hire for events. Please contact us for details). You may also wish to come and meet us at our informal club night meetings on Friday's at 7:30pm, held at The Crampton Tower Museum, The Broadway Broadstairs Kent (Click to find) where a warm welcome awaits you.
Membership is available to anyone with an interest in Model Engineering, Trains and Traction Engines (families welcome) and as a member you have access to the track in Ellington Park where you can run your own 5" or 3½" gauge engine or if you do not have your own engine (after a period of training) you can run one of our club engines.
Next meeting is at Crampton Tower Friday 27th August @ 7:30pm
